For this year Bastille Day, the 14th of July, I did work with the French Consulate and the French Olympic Committee to organize a big event at the club which will host the Club France during the Olympics. And what an event it was with a dozen of sports during the day, a huge party at night, 300 adults, 400 kids, several Olympic and Paralympic champions… it was amazing!
I hadn’t had the opportunity to go to Buzios until that weekend and I was happily surprise by the “Brazilian Saint-Tropez”. The beaches and views are amazing and the city is actually really nice as well with a great city center full of bars and restaurants. Great weekend there!
For the second year in a row, Usain Bolt came to Rio for an exhibition race! This time it took place at the Jockey Club Brasileiro where they had set-up a temporary track and where he did run both on Saturday and on Sunday. Impressive.
Handball, Volley, Football, Basket, Fencing, Surf… I tried to attend a lot of sports events this year and discovered a lot of different arenas. It was also a great opportunity to feel the Brazilian atmosphere when it comes to loud cheering and I hope that the atmosphere will the same during the Olympics.
The festival Back2Black is a yearly event organized at the Cidade das Artes in Barra da Tijuca and this year the main singer was no less than Stromae who gave an interesting performance in front of a mix of Brazilians and Europeans. And as usual we were there with a lot of friends so it was a nice night!
Itaipu is nice little place on the other side of the bay, after Niteroi, and where there are lots of nice houses close to the beach. And it’s in one of these houses that we spent a great weekend with twenty friends, celebrating the last days of Claire and Laurent in Brazil.
With less that 75 kms between Amman and Jerusalem I did not resist in the opportunity to extend my stay in Jordan with a quick stop over in Israel. I only spent one night in Jerusalem and one night in Tel Aviv but it was really interesting to visit these two cities.
